Toronto Maple Leafs Face Pittsburgh Penguins In Potential Playoff Battle

Toronto Maple Leafs Vs Pittsburgh Penguins Predictions

The battle on the NHL lines will be hot and heavy on Wednesday, March 7th between the Pittsburgh Penguins (38-21-5) and the Toronto Maple Leafs (30-28-7). It all gets started at Consol Energy Arena in Pittsburgh, PA with the puck dropping at 7:30 ET. Live television coverage is set for the NBC Sports Network and TSN.

The time is definitely here if the Maple Leafs are going to make a push for the postseason. They are still on the wrong side of the playoffs standings right now, but just like so many of the other teams at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, one good run on the NHL betting lines, and all of a sudden, Toronto might find itself be back in the equation.

This is a game that is going to pit a ton of stars against one another. Sidney Crosby notwithstanding, there are plenty of the top goal scorers and point getters that will share the ice in the Steel City on Wednesday night.

For Pittsburgh, the man of the hour is Evgeni Malkin. Malkin was more or less always the second fiddle to Sid the Kid, but this year, he is a legitimate candidate for the Hart Memorial Trophy for the league’s MVP. He has 38 goals and 42 assists overall, and he is almost certainly going to be the first (and one of the few) to reach the 40-goal and 40-assist plateau.

Of course, Malkin couldn’t beat the NHL gambling lines by himself without Crosby out there. James Neal has 30 goals and 32 assists as well, and he has been rewarded tremendously for his efforts with his new team with a long term contract.

On the other side of the ice, Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul are the men to really watch out for. Lupul has 25 goals and 41 assists on the year, but Kessel is the one that is in the Top 5 of the league in total goals with 32.

The Penguins are 20-8-2 at home this year, and they are going to be a tough team to beat on the NHL wagering lines. Thus far this year though, the Maple Leafs have definitely been the team to back in this series. While playing at the Air Canada Centre, they have a pair of one-goal wins against Pittsburgh. Back here at Consol Energy Arena, these two had a great fight at the end of April, a game that was won by the Pens in a shootout.
