The chase for Lord Stanley’s Cup is on! The regular season is said and done with, and here at Bookmaker Sportsbook, we are taking a look at how we rank the 16 teams involved in NHL playoff betting action this year.

NHL Playoff Betting Odds

Bookmaker Sportsbook is ready to drop the puck on more NHL betting action starting on Wednesday with the chase for the Stanley Cup. Check out how the 16 teams stack up and which ones have the best and worst chances of winning it all this year.

1: New York Rangers (51-24-7)

The Rangers look a lot like the Bruins did last year when they marched to the Stanley Cup. They have a great goalie in Henrik Lundqvist and a team that is full of players that can do some damage with the puck on the other end of the ice as well. This is as excited for hockey as Big Apple fans have been since the Rangers won the Cup in 1994.

2: St. Louis Blues (49-22-11)

The Blues went 30-6-5 on the NHL betting lines this year, and that’s why it was so darn important for them to get home ice advantage in the playoffs. They didn’t take care of business and get the #1 seed, but they do have the best goaltending tandem in hockey with Jaroslav Halak and a resurgent Brian Elliott.

3: Pittsburgh Penguins (51-25-6)

We can only imagine what the top offense in hockey could have done with Sidney Crosby in the lineup for the whole year. With Sid the Kid out, the Pens made the playoffs in two straight seasons. Pittsburgh is only a #4 seed in the East, but there is a reason that it is amongst the favorites to win the Cup again.

4: Vancouver Canucks (51-22-9)

It’s rough to install the Presidents’ Trophy winners at #4 in our poll, but we don’t have a choice. We just don’t think that Roberto Luongo has what it takes to win a Stanley Cup. We’ve seen this script before, seemingly every single year with Vancouver in the postseason.

5: Boston Bruins (49-29-4)

The road to the Stanley Cup Finals might be very, very nice for the Bruins this year. They had a stretch where they were as good as any team has ever been in this league, and the chance is there, with matchups against Washington and probably Florida in the first two rounds of the playoffs, to make another deep run once again.

6: Philadelphia Flyers (47-26-9)

It’s sad to think that either Philly or Pittsburgh has to go out in the first round of the playoffs, as these were two of the three best offensive teams in the entire league this year. The Flyers have the ability to win on the road, tying for a league-best 25 wins on the NHL betting odds away from the City of Brotherly Love, which could give them a great chance in the postseason.

7: Nashville Predators (48-26-8)

We give Nashville all of the credit in the world for fending off Detroit for home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Pekka Rinne led the league in wins this year, and now that he is the undisputed top goalie in the Volunteer State, he can shine by himself in the playoffs.

8: Detroit Red Wings (48-28-6)

The Wings set an NHL record for consecutive wins at home earlier this year, and their 31-7-3 mark at Joe Louis Arena cannot be ignored. Of course, they have to figure out how to win a game on the road at some point as well, and a 17-21-3 record as guests leaves a lot to question.

9: Los Angeles Kings (40-27-15)

The first team that we have listed from the Pacific Division is actually the team that is going to be the #8 seed in the postseason. LA has an offense with some potential, but the real key is that Jonathan Quick was the best net minder in the conference this year.

10: San Jose Sharks (43-29-10)

Whereas the Kings have the goaltending and some potential on offense, San Jose is the exact opposite. This has been a team that we have been talking about for years as a Stanley Cup contender, but it has never gotten to the Finals. Be careful if you want to play the NHL Stanley Cup betting odds on the Sharks.

11: Phoenix Coyotes (42-27-13)

If you want proof as to how tight the Pacific Division was this year, just check out how closely we regard all of these teams that made the second season out of it. For Phoenix, we just wish that we had anywhere near as much confidence in Mike Smith, as hot as he is right now, as we did in Ilya Bryzgalov.

12: Chicago Blackhawks (45-26-11)

The Blackhawks really need to get Jonathan Toews back on the ice if they want a shot at winning it all. They are a talented team for sure, but we just don’t see the goaltending or the consistency on offense for this team to make it two Stanley Cups in three years.

13: Washington Capitals (42-32-8)

Are we shorting the Caps here? It’s possible. This is going to be an interesting team to watch on the NHL betting spreads in the playoffs. It is the first time that no one is really expecting Alexander Ovechkin and the crew to be amongst the contenders, but that might be the key to finally getting this team over the hump.

14: New Jersey Devils (48-28-6)

The Devils might be the #6 seed in the East, but they are smirking, knowing that they drew Florida in the first round of the playoffs. It is the easiest first round draw a team could have that has to go on the road, and Martin Brodeur might be in for one final run to greatness.

15: Florida Panthers (38-26-18)

We say “Yuck!” to a team winning 38 games and qualifying for the playoffs! Florida was outscored by 24 goals this year as well, which just doesn’t give us any confidence whatsoever in the Southeast Division champs.

16: Ottawa Senators (41-31-10)

Ottawa held on tight to its playoff spot this year, but we just don’t see the only Canadian team represented in the Eastern Conference getting to even a Game 6 against the Rangers in the first round.
