When the Stanley Cup NHL betting lines came out last week, the Panthers were considered one of the two biggest longshots on the board at every single sportsbook. No one figured that they had a chance of winning this series, let alone getting through the rest of the Eastern Conference. However, what we saw on Sunday night when they knocked off these Devils with a rather comfortable 4-2 victory, is that they have the ability to get the job done.

Florida got two goals out of Stephen Weiss in Game 2 – the first of which set the tone for the game just 21 ticks into it. It was a comfort to see the Panthers get off to such a good start, especially after doing so badly out of the blocks in Game 1.

The only time that matters became a bit hairy was in the first few minutes of the third period. Florida was holding a 3-0 lead and looked to be sailing smoothly to a win on the NHL gambling lines before Travis Zajac and Ilya Kovalchuk scored within just over a minute of one another to get the Devils back within a goal. They would never draw level though, and Tomas Fleischmann finished the game off with an empty netter a second before the end of the game’s conclusion.

Still, Florida needs to be careful with the proceedings on the NHL wagering lines in this one. The Devils had won seven games in a row before losing in Game 2, and that included pulling off four straight wins here in the Garden State. Florida does have a win at this venue this year from February 11th, but it wasn’t Jose Theodore that was in net. Jersey did win the other meeting on January 6th with Johan Hedberg between the pipes, a 5-2 victory that proved to be the most lopsided clash of the six over the course of the season including thus far in the playoffs.
