Our NHL odds are always posted at Bookmaker Sportsbook, and today, we’re taking a look at the postseason clash in the 4/5 series in the West. The Detroit Red Wings and the Nashville Predators will kick off Game 4 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals on Tuesday night.

The Detroit Red Wings (49-29-6) and the Nashville Predators (50-26-8) are set to tango on Tuesday, April 17th from Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, MI. We’re breaking down the NHL odds for this clash, which can be seen on live on CBC and the NBC Sports Network at 7:30 ET.

NHL Betting Odds

Nashville Predators (+150)
Detroit Red Wings (-170)
Total: 5 (Over -120)

We said it in our analysis of Game 3 of this series, and it definitely is worth mentioning once again. The Predators and the Red Wings have played some remarkable hockey over the course of these three games, and they amazingly have played three straight 3-2 games. Each team now has a win on the road that has essentially acted as a haymaker in this series, and it is going to be up to Detroit now to punch back and level this series at two games apiece going back to the Music City for Game 5.

The upset on the NHL betting odds for the Preds in Game 3 was absolutely crucial, knowing just how difficult it is for anyone to beat the Red Wings in this venue. The hero of the series has been Shea Weber for the Preds, and that shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone. Weber, one of the top offensive defensemen in the game, now has a goal in both Game 2 and 3, and he hasn’t been afraid to get down and dirty by throwing a ton of big hits as well.

Detroit has to prove that it can get back up off of the mat just like it did after dropping the series opener. The team has to look at Game 3 as one that was simply blown. The Red Wings outshot Nashville 43-22 for the game, and that type of advantage should almost always lead to a victory, especially when you’re talking about a game held in Motown. Pekka Rinne absolutely outplayed Jimmy Howard in the pipes though, and that was the key to beating the NHL gambling odds for the Predators in Game 3.

Detroit has to be concerned, needless to say. It did win an NHL record 23 straight games at Joe Louis Arena earlier this year, but if you take that away, the team now has played to just an 8-11 SU record its L/19 against the NHL wagering odds. Considering how badly the Wings have played on the road this year, the idea of having to win three in a row, two of which would be at Bridgestone Arena just to keep their season alive isn’t appealing. The argument could be made that this is a must win for the hosts.
