Dallas Stars Battle Atop Pacific Division With San Jose Sharks

San Jose Sharks Vs Dallas Stars Betting Predictions

The San Jose Sharks (33-24-7) and the Dallas Stars (35-26-5) are set to tango on Thursday, March 8th from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX. We’re breaking down the NHL odds for this clash, which can be seen live on Comcast Sports California and FOX Sports Southwest at 8:30 ET.

The Sharks and the Stars both know that they are involved in a heck of a playoff chase this year. With just 16 games to be played on the NHL betting odds, there are just two points separating these two. Dallas leads the Pacific Division with 75 points as of Tuesday, but it is tied with the Phoenix Coyotes. San Jose has 73, while the Los Angeles Kings are just behind with 72 and the Anaheim Ducks have 68.

To make matters even worse, we aren’t just talking about a divisional race here. There are realistically just three spots remaining for the rest of the teams in the West, and these five squads are fighting with the Colorado Avalanche (72 points), Calgary Flames (70 points), and Minnesota Wild (66 points) for those positions. Needless to say, this one is just a tad bit important.

San Jose’s offense has completely fallen apart, as the team has scored just two total goals in its last three games. In spite of the fact that they are still ranked #1 in the league at 34.2 shots per game, the Sharks are now down to just 2.7 goals per game, which is only good enough to rank #12 in hockey. They haven’t scored more than three goals in a game in nine straight, and it should go without saying that they are just 2-7-0 in that stretch.

Meanwhile, Dallas is doing what it needs to do. The team has taken at least one point from seven in a row, and its offense has put up at least three goals in six straight clashes against the NHL gambling odds. The Stars have won four straight on the road as well, and that is a tremendous improvement for a team that had struggled for the mass majority of the year outside of the Lone Star State.

Kari Lehtonen is expected to rest up on Tuesday night to prepare for this clash on Thursday, so Dallas’ starting net minder should be in fine shape for this battle.

It’s bad news for the Sharks on the NHL wagering odds in this one, though. They are just 14-13-5 away from home this year, and they are going to have a tough time playing in Big D, where the Stars have been solid at 18-12-3.
